My Cricut Cut My Own Designs!!

In my freetime lately, I've been teaching myself how to use Inkscape, a FREE scaleable vector based program. Why is this important to my scrapbooking?? Well, it lets me import the files I create into my Sure Cuts A Lot program so that I can cut my own designs with the Cricut!!! That's right, I don't need a Cricut cartridge to cut out these designs!!

I also created the Man and Woman and Flur de Leis. I can't wait to create some flourishes, flowers, and other fun accents!!

I love my Sure Cuts A Lot program!! It lets me cut any true type font that I download for free from the internet, so I will never have to buy another Cricut font cartridge again!! It is the best $75 you will spend!

Snow Princess

This layout utilizes an 8x10 photo....something that is hard to scrapbook. The papers and the giant snowflake sticker are from The Paper Element's Blue Flannel line. The word "snow" uses Maya Road chipboard letters coverd in TPE paper and Queen and Co felt snowflakes. The word "princess" was cut using my Cricut and the special SCAL software and a free font that I found on the internet. I used some fabric and some mosaic tiles to add some texture. I wrote on the journalling transparency with a paint pen.

Altered Dress Form

I won this 16" bare dress form from Creative Imaginations last year and I've been waiting for inspiration to alter it. I first painted the dress form pink and the pedestal gold. I then pinned many sequins onto it, which was extremely difficult. I used Mod Podge and pink tissue paper to put on the rest of the dress, creating wrinkles to make it look more real. I made the skirt using over 200 individual rose pedals and a piece of fabric to make the long train. I finished it off by adding some lace, pearl buttons down the back of the dress, a pearl necklace with gold charm, and a beaded belt. Altogether, I estimate that this project took me over 6 hours to complete, but I am very happy with the results!!

The Red Gym

I used The Paper Element's Hot Chocolate line for this layout. I added some texture by layering some wide grid fabric, a Riff Raff wooden scroll, a flower and a journal block.
